칠레와의 FTA 협정체결과 함께 날로 관심도가 증가하는 칠레 와인.
그 중에서도 최고봉에 위치하고 있는 Almaviva 와인의 Vertical Tasting이 국내 와인문화의 새로운 장을 개척하고 있는 ‘CASA del VINO’에서 열립니다. 칠레 최대의 와인생산자인 Conch y Toro와 프랑스 최고의 와인생산자인 Baron Philippe Rothschild가 공동 투자하여 생산한 프랑스적인 칠레와인 Almaviva의 세계로 여러분을 초대합니다. 특히 이번 시음회는 국내에서는 구할 수 없는 Almaviva의 첫 생산년도인 1996년산 빈티지를 독점 수입하여 시음하게 되었으며 가장 최근 빈티지인 2001년산까지 모두 6종의 Almaviva를 Vertical Tasting하게 됩니다.

1. Almaviva 1996 (1st Vintage) : Parker Point 92 With wine making assistance from Mouton's team of experts, this estate has produced a saturated ruby/purple-colored wine with elegant, complex notes of cassis, pain grille, cedar, and tobacco. Soft, rich, and multidimensional, this full-bodied wine possesses exquisite complexity and a layered texture with no hard edges.
Drinkable already, it promises to improve for 7-8 years, and last for 12 or more.
2. Almaviva 1997 : Parker Point 91 The dark ruby-colored 1997 Almaviva exhibits aromas of black currants, blackberries, and loads of grilled oak spices. Cassis, assorted dark fruits, and layers of creamy wood flavors are found in this full-bodied and superbly concentrated wine. It is opulent, complex, intense, and loaded with ripe, round tannins.
Projected maturity: 2003-2012 .
3. Almaviva 1998 : Wine Spectator 90 1998 is a modern-style red, with powerful, extracted cassis, plum, toast and brier notes. It's muscular and dense, but balanced, even though the oak shows prominently on the finish for now. Impressive, and should develop nicely.
4. Almaviva 1999 : Parker Point 90 The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Almaviva has a Margaux like red currant, blackberry, and violet scented nose. While its fruit remains youthfully reticent in the mid-palate, this wine's attack and finish reveals loads of red cherries, raspberries (both red and black), currants, and cassis liqueur. It is a well-structured, full-flavored, and mouth-coating wine armed with admirable concentration. Its tannin is exquisitely ripe, supple, and angle-free. As this wine ages, its middle should fill out to reveal the density of fruit evident in its attack and finish. When this occurs it may well merit an even loftier score.
Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015.
5. Almaviva 2000 : Wine Spectator 91 The currant, cedar, mineral and cocoa flavors smolder underneath the fleshy, enveloping mouthfeel, with a wall of ripe, finely, enveloping mouthfeel, with a wall of ripe, finely grained tannins taking over on the smoky finish... clearly outstanding.
6. Almaviva 2001 : Wine Spectator 95 The 2001 is a brick house of a wine, though, showing plenty of Pauillac-like hints of iron, dried currant and cigar smoke, but it also has layers of Chilean loam, blackberry, plum, spice and minerals.
Loads here, and filled out on all sides, this is a powerful performance in a powerful vintage.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2005 through 2012.
